#ShopSmall Badass Buckle Up Bags

I’ve never been a huge “bag girl”. Same goes for shoes. I am more driven towards function rather than fancy or brand names. To me, Michael Kors bags look like every other bag.

I know. I’m an uncultured swine.

Here’s what I do love. I love unique pieces. I love bold colors. I love big bags (and I cannot lie) and I love quality products that won’t fall apart when stuffed with all the things one tends to put in one's purse, plus all the pack mule items you accumulate when you leave the house with your husband and toddler.

So, now that you know how I feel about bags in general, I have to tell you about Buckle Up Bags.

Oh. Em. Gee.

Unique? Check. How do you get more unique than bags and purses made with upcycled seatbelts? I mean, I know the duck tape wallet you made in high school was really cool… but these are made out of seatbelts!

Bold colors? Check. They have every color under the sun and then some! Have you ever seen a yellow seatbelt? Apparently, they exist. And Nancy Logan makes bags out of them.

Quality? Checkity check. These pieces scream high quality, from the hardware to the stitching. My bag holds all my things with ease and I have yet to worry about it being able to keep up with my demands of it keeping all my on the go items safe and contained

Bonus: Handmade and customizable? Yup!! See a bag you love but you’d love different hardware? Bigger dimensions? A certain colored lining? Maybe you love a rainbow bag and want to add a bisexual pride flag to the back (hint, that was my request) Nancy can make it happen!

So now that I’ve oozed about these bags, let me tell you about the company and the mastermind behind it, Nancy Logan!

Nancy has had a passion for sewing from a very young age! She came across the idea of making seatbelts when she saw a friend’s seatbelt bag but she noticed many of those seatbelt bags that she came across weren’t very feminine and lacking in storage options, like pockets, compartments and zippers. Having her own industrial sewing machine, she decided to try her hand at creating pieces that were not only focused on function but fashion as well!

In just over 2 years, she has made over 1000 bags and has shipped them around the world!! Most of the seatbelts she uses, she sources from rejected seat belts and wrecking yards where the airline and auto industry cannot reuse them. Nancy loves to pay attention to the fine details, such as high-quality zippers and hardware and liners in eye-catching colors. Her patterns range from fun and funky to monochromatic and luxe.

When she isn’t working, she’s enjoying that lakeside life with her husband and two puppers named Lily-One-Socks and Pepper Pots.

I super duper highly recommend Buckle Up Bags. Give ‘em a like. Give ‘em a follow. Ooh and ahh over these beauties and know that should you purchase one of these pieces, whether custom or ready-made, you’re getting a true work of art. Be prepared to get compliments all the time on your unique piece because let’s be real; how often does one see a badass bag like these?
