welcome to candor magazine

Candor began its life as a parenting publication for marginalized people and with the chaotic rise of Donald Trump it evolved into an outlet for the frustrations of those same marginalized people.

The Candor Magazine of today, however, was forged in the fires of 2020.

Amidst the glaring injustices of a global pandemic and the flagrant disregard of Black lives by law enforcement, we found new focus: to rise up for the kind of world we want to leave our children.

With every piece we publish at Candor now, we seek to bring awareness to prejudices, injustices, and inequalities that we might not know exist, to give actionable steps/solutions toward change wherever possible, and to expose readers to perspectives that may have never occurred to them.

We’ve refused to accept the things we cannot change and we’re hellbent on making a difference.

Welcome to a new era of Candor Magazine.

Our Founder

Candor would not be here today if it wasn’t for the vision and tenacity of our founder, the wonderful Betsy Roach.

Betsy currently lives in Arkansas with her four children and a mountain of kittens. She is the host of the hit true crime podcast Milk & Murder, where she covers the cases of marginalized victims in a format tailor made for busy parents. She’s also the mastermind behind French Meets Press, a social media marketing agency for small business owners.

We honestly have no idea how she does it all.
